		<description>It is hard to argue with the golden rule.  I think that America, at its best, stands for ideals that are transcendent, though certainly not fully realized.  Obama makes clear that those ideals are not uniquely American.  Perhaps he can help diverse cultures find common ground.  Certainly the responsibility falls upon all of us to speed progress in that direction.</description>
